My dearest gang,‘SHE’
No, I’m not referring to the song by Charles Aznavour. I’m referring to the launch of the Women, Family and Community Development coffee-table book entitled ‘SHE’, a tribute to women who had succeeded in their various fields, by Dato Seri Shahrizat Jalil on 20th of June 2006 (or, 20062006!)
‘SHE’ was written in memory of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s late wife Datin Paduka Seri Endon Mahmud, who was also featured under the chapters First Ladies and Women in Heritage. Also featured were Toh Puan Uma Sundari Sambanthan (in the chapter Women of Merdeka), Saloma (Women of Song), Adibah Amin (Women of Letters), Tan Sri Dr Salma Ismail (Women in Medicine) and Tun Fatimah Hashim (Women in Politics).
Our own TKCOGs who made it into the book are Dato Rafiah Salim, Dato Mazlan Othman, Dato Norraesah Hj Mohamad, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Lutfiah Ismail, Mariam Suleiman and more. When I stepped into the function room, whoa, it was filled with the country’s who’s who. Every which way I looked I would spot someone who has always graced the tabloid. Of course, I came that day, with our equally famous TKCOG gang…ha ha ha. There were K Pi (Lutfiah Ismail), K Mah (Datin Mahani Hamid), K Husna (Husna Wahi), K Yam (Mariam Tun Ismail), K Tee (Noriati Ismail), K Umi (Umi Nasir), K Putri (Putri Saniah) and Hasni (Hasni Mohd).
It was also wonderful that I met up with some old friends whom we have not met up in years. I met Raja Datuk Ropiaah Raja Abdullah, Siti Hendon Hj Chik, Datin Rose Ismail, Hisham Harun, Tom Abang Saufi, Dato Mohaiyani Shamsuddin, Nur Jiwawati and so many others.I'm a fan of the movie 'Sepet'. I was thrilled to bits, when I met Yasmin Ahmad in person at the do. We had a nice chat and she told me, she's currently busy with 'Mohksin'. That was nice.
The emcee that day was none other than our TKCOG, Yasmin Yusuff. We felt so at home, somehow, in the company of familiar faces. We also had Syed Sobri and Azie (TKCOG too!) and Ferhad entertaining us with their beautiful rendition of light and easy songs, whilst we enjoyed the lovely food spread. All in all, an inspiring afternoon.
Cheers,Ruby Ahmad.

Hi K Ruby,
Love this entry. I feel so inspired even just looking at the lovely photos, with all the well known women!! TQ.
Jo,
tkc.
Hi Ruby,
Where can we get hold of 'SHE'?
Hi K Ruby,
I agree with you and Jo, that it is inspiring to be in the midst of successful women.
Mas,
tkc.
That few from TKC ? I would have thought that at least 1/3 would be from TKC !
DMD (Dato Dahan).
RMC OPA.
Well, trust TKC to produce some really outstanding (and not to mention, incredibly looking too:) woman!
Hi Jo and Mas,
Thanks for loving this entry. Yeah! Looking at all the successful women is inspiring, more so being in their midst, let me tell ya! I was palpitating with excitement being there getting glimpses and even chatted with some of the women I admired and respect.
Hi Anne,
You can get 'SHE' at MPH outlets. Thanks for interest.
Hi OP Dato Dahan,
Nice to hear from you. No, definitely more than 1/3 from TKC...! I was too busy, and had asked OP Azudin to help count how many TKC gals managed to get into the book, well...from our experience at your son's wedding reception where both Azudin and I co-emceed, we found out Azudin can't count! Ha ha ha! So I received the incorrect statistics from Azudin (jangan marrrrah, OP Azudin...bergurau inter-alumni, je).
Hi Seen_er,
Hey! Thanks for dropping by. Lovely to detect your great appreciation (we always love being appreciated) of us, TKC gals. Stay tuned in with us always then.
Cheers,
Ruby.
