Make mistakes.

As the person who doesn't make mistakes is unlikely to make anything!

My dearest gang,

Many successful people from around the world understand that failures and false starts are a precondition of success.

How about that? Quite encouraging to hear? That's the whole idea. Life is all about encouragement and being positive. With such an attitude we will go far.

For example, Benjamin Franklin said, 'I haven't failed, I've had 10,000 ideas that didn't work.'

Thomas Edison said, 'Of the 200 light bulbs that didn't work, every failure told me something that I was able to incorporate into the next attempt.'

Theatre director Joan Littlewood said, 'If we don't get lost, we'll never find a new route.'

Really many a times failures were the major contributor to successes.

This, to me applies even to our daily relationships with our friends, our co-workers and most of all with people whom we love very much. I find it is during adversities we learn of people's true character. If the mistakes were made without any intentions of malice, if the mistakes were genuine, most times it can draw people closer as this presents an opportunity to begin to understand each other. It presents an opening to reach each other's inner feelings and thoughts. We begin to know each other better through mistakes. How we learn from our mistakes and how we make amends and how the recipient finds in his/her heart to forgive and forget, all adds to the relationship... all adds in going the distance.

This is always the time we learn what the other person is made of. Whether he/she is kind, accommodating, forgiving, generous or otherwise. If we were too guarded, then we will lose opportunities to learn more about each other and so lose opportunities to get even closer. This is the time we will know our value, our worth with the other party, as to how they swallow their pride, their ego in the desire to make things better.

To be able to swallow our pride, our ego and admit to our mistakes is not the easiest thing to do. We can only learn in humility. People who can, are true winners. These are the people who get the best things in life, especially in relationships..

Don't be afraid to make mistakes and don't be afraid of failures, for as long as we keep our humility. The more interesting the mistakes, the more interesting the life. The more mistakes we make is also a reflection of the more things we dare to do in life, and the more things we learn. It is better to make mistakes than not having initiative. Learning from mistakes adds to our wisdom and prepares us for the next big conquest in life, only if we are not afraid to make mistakes. As they say, 'The person who doesn't make mistakes is unlikely to make anything.'

I leave you with this quote:

'FAIL, FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER.' Samuel Beckett.

Cheers,

Ruby.

I agree with you Ruby sangat2. Being scared of making mistakes make us frozen in our steps. That fear stops us from wanting to do anything new, the next thing we know dah tua and too late.

Boy trust you to find such a phrase but I like it.

'FAIL, FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER'. Encouraging in a funny sort of way as most people want to use positive words. But FAIL BETTER is interesting. Thanks Ruby. Cute lah adik ni.

i had a misfortune to meet this one personality that claimed to have achieved something big (really big, earned (not gonna say a she or he) a datukship) and you know what...

the stories she told were just unbelieveable...it is ok to just tell us all he/she failed in her/his bid to do what he/she wanted or set out to do.

spinning stories won't earn any respect, i rahter hear his/her failure stories than to hear her/his fake adventure....

Thanks Kak Ruby

Encouraging words indeed… The path I take is littered with potential for mistakes and false starts…. So to these reminders help to spur me on….

Hi Ruby,

'The more interesting the mistakes, the more interesting the life.'

I simply love what you said here. Thanks Ruby. You help me view mistake in a different light. I feel braver to move on.

Hi Sally,

Exactly right. The problem with us (me included) we look at the potential mistakes always. That attitide stops us in our tracks. How about looking at the potential success for a change and just go for it. For a of things now, I look at the potential success and go for it. Life is that much more colourful I find. Thanks for dropping by Sally.

Hi K Anne,

FAIL BETTER is somewhat motivating. It sort of tell you if you kept at doing something it can only get better. So I like that quote, even with negative words, as it indicated some reality there for me.

It tells me, yes you can fail many times but each time I will improve with my results, or skills or approach, for as long as I have the initiative to pick myself up and do it again. Aaah...such is life, under no circumstance, one should ever give up. Do it and do it again. Thanks for your sweet cuitan, my dear kakak.

Love y'all,

Ruby.

Hi Stupe,

I get ya. To be honest we are all looking for humility in everyone. I have said before and I'd say it again, humility is one rare commodity these days. We fall very quickly with people who are real and humble. Their presence in our life is a panacea for a lot of ills as their words tend to be comforting and encouraging always, their ways are always inspiring. With humility, they will not mind sharing their bloops and blunders with us just to spur us to go the extra mile. Stupe it is lovely getting your comments always. Thanks.

Morning Adeeba,

Wonderful to hear from you. Yes, my dear, I can imagine being President for Malaysian Aids Council, how daunting your daily tasks can be. I know you have passion and sincerity for this new role you recently inherited. Passion and sincerity are all that you need. People are always ready to forgive us for genuine mistakes. So just push on the best you can my dear. Thanks for your appreciation here Adeeba. That makes my day, sweetie. Hope to catch up over coffee sometime. Will call.

Hi Shamsul,

It is true that a full life lived is also full of mistakes. Dont forget it definitely must be filled equally with successes if not more. Isnt such a life so wonderful and exciting. This is what I have learnt. This is why I too have been brave to accept many daunting offers which I would have been hesitant in the past. For a lot of things now I look at the potential fun and success and worry not about the potential mistakes. I'm glad this entry some positive effect on you. Thanks for sharing. It makes my morning somewhat wonderful.

Cheers,

Ruby.

Hi, K Ruby.
What a great way to start my day at work.
Words of encouragement from you just light up my hectic day in school.
=)

FYI,I too have gone through ups and downs in life.
Back then in TKC I wasn't much of an excellent student.
Hence my 'route to success' is rather different from others.
There are still a lot more things for me to achieve.
Need to move on and improve in order to be successful.
But I know I'm not a failure either [insyaAllah], coz at least I've got a secured job now as a teacher.
Alhamdulillah.

In my opinion, we must think positive should we face any failures.
Don't they say 'every cloud has a silver lining'?
Ada hikmah di sebalik setiap kejadian Allah.
That's what I did and Alhamdulillah slowly I'm starting to see the bright side of my life.

Having great friends around and a loving family adds to the happiness.
Even more when getting to know new, interesting people in this blog.

'The person who doesn't make mistakes is unlikely to make anything.'
Have a great day in life everybody.
Wassalam.

Hi Fizzy sweetie,

Honest, I terkenang you today. Hmm...telepathic indeed. Sooo glad this entry encouraged you. Sharing itself helps me too you know. As you are enlightened, I am too. So this is really therapeutic for us all when we participate.

Fizzy my dear, this is what I have learnt in life...we bloom at different times and we bloom and de-bloom (so to speak) every now and then. It is never static, meaning the ups and downs of life is ever changing but ever continuous. That is why, humility is very important. Today we are up, tomorrow we dont know where we will be.

Certainly every cloud has a silver lining. For example, after a fight with a loved one, when we made up, dont you find you are that much closer? I do. So there's the silver lining. Without the fight, then things might just be sort of run-of-the-mill. This applies to all aspects of our life. We need the ripples both positive and negative to happen to us, to keep us perked-up with life, to keep us going.

Definitely, you are right in that having lovely people around us, makes life that much more beautiful. Heyy...real lovely to hear from you, girl. I just wish all teachers are like you, full of interest and zest for life. Definitely we get better students, thats for sure. Love ya.

Hi Stupe,

Cheers,

Ruby.
