MGC/TKCOGA Inter-Alumni Bowling

My dearest gang,

What a fabulous sight seeing all the participants busying themselves in all the 22 lanes. Yes! All warming up ferociously, for the first MGC/TKCOGA inter- alumni bowling challenge 2006 held at Sunway Pyramid, on Sunday 6th August.

Eleven alumni took part in this challenge and they were (in no particular order) :

1 Sekolah Seri Puteri
2 Sekolah Tun Fatimah
3 SMS Sultan Hj Ahmad Shah
4 SMS Selangor
5 Tunku Kurshiah College
6 Penang Free School
7 Malay College
8 Sekolah Dato’ Abdul razak
9 Sekolah Alam Shah
10 Sultan Abdul Hamid College
11 Victoria Institution

Bowling is certainly one of the few games that can be played irrespective of gender at competition level.

The President, Puan Sri Fauzah Darus (K Fauzah) welcomed everyone with a wonderful ‘KISS’ (keep it short sweetheart) speech. She was heartened by the wonderful response from the respective alumni. She felt this was a good platform for us to interact and network. She expressed the importance of extending the hand of friendship and keeping in touch to enable us to work together towards common goals especially in the areas of improving the standards of our alma mater. As the old malay saying goes, ‘Bersatu kita teguh’ (United we stand).

With the President’s speech the bowling competition was officiated.

Before participants started, it was heard that the emcee (yours truly) gave some word of advice to the already anxious and excited participants:

1 The objective was to hit the pins in front of them as many as possible. It was repeated, IN FRONT and not behind them!

2 For those who persisted in sending the ball down the ‘longkang’ as we call it..ha ha the exit door was shown, should the participant(s) wish to disappear discreetly out in utter shame.

3 The emcee had it on good intelligence that some or rather a particular woman’s team tried to convince Shalin Zulkifli that she belonged to their alumni (illegally that is)..and if Shalin was spotted, that team would be severely dealt with!

4 Participants were philosophically cajoled by the emcee, into believing the old saying that ‘Winning is not everything’ but almost immediately in the same breath, some parties heard the emcee whispered to the TKC teams that ‘Winning is the only thing’!! Ha ha ha!

While I was mingling, Ghazali Abd Rahman from SDARA, in hushed tones, told me he noticed that whenever any of the men’s team were positioned to bowl beside any women’s team, somehow the men’s team did not score very well. We thought hard together and wondered why? We could not somehow get any answer as to why indeed!

Then there was some kerfuffle with individuals who belonged to two alumni that day, and could not decide as to which jersey he should don on. One such person I happened to catch in action of being severely grilled by his team was Nasir Ali (he studied at both Penang Free School and Malay College). Ha ha ha.

The lovely President from Sekolah Seri Puteri, Datin Hamidah, graciously donated special gifts for Presidents of respective alumni as token of friendship.

Also spotted was Stupe (Lim Ee-Van, who came with his lovely wife), who made special effort to attend our function even though his RMCOPA troop could not participate in the challenge. That was sweet of him.

Whenever I felt the strain in my eyes after long hours of peeping at the results on the monitors, anxious as to who was leading, I would look out for any Penang Free School team member (only from the men's team). Don't get me wrong!! I simply needed to gaze at their soothing cool baby blue team-tees that they all donned on for the challenge. They were quite a stunning looking team, that would probably make their President, Dato Abu Huraira, who was present, so proud as Penang Frees men's team (..now you know why I was looking out for them? He he) grabbed the 'Best Dressed Team'. As Mark Twain said, 'Clothes make the man'...Hmm..I will have to re-think about my clothes now!

As the emcee aptly said, when we go to war, the 'proud' drumbeats motivated the soldiers. Similarly in this modern day, it was the 'proud' cheering that pushed the competing bowlers to do their best. It was Sekolah Seri Puteri who cheered the best to win the 'Best Cheering Team'.

All around we saw handshakes of introduction and friendship, exchanges of cards in view of meeting up again, laughter, chuckles, mirth, camaraderie, shouts of excitement exchanging hot gossips, the works.

We certainly left Pyramid Mega Lanes, happy.

Congratulations to the MGC/TKCOGA Inter Alumni Bowling Challenge 2006 sub-committee for a superb job!

Hip hip hooray! 3x

Cheers,

Ruby Ahmad.

p/s Apologies to bowling sub-comm as pix from photographer did not arrive on time, therefore I have to use my own un-professional pix, which is very limited. Once photographer sends to me, I will post the sub-comm pix here.

My sweet K Ruby,

I've read about this in stupe's blog yesterday and as always I regret (for a split second) being in this side of peninsular.
I wished I could be there, cheering for the OGA team.
(The least I can do is cheer, and give the SSPians hard time to get the title. Nak bowl, end up in longkang laa ~)
He he he.

Credits to the hostess, and congratulations to all the winning teams.
Those who were less fortunate, there's always another chance, right, K Ruby?

Fizzy sayang,

You may be over there, but heyy I feel your spirit dear, oh so strong. That counts for a lot. Keep cheering for us from over there. There's always a reason for us to be where we are at any given moment. We do our best, wherever we are, and that's our job. You my little sis, certainly is testimony of this.

Prepare to be with us next year. If you ain't playing, you certainly must prepare the voice box for some cheering!! Take care swetie.

Stupe memang laju macam lightning with his report. He was so sweet to make effort to be present with us. Brought his lovely better half too, I mean Mrs Lim. Cheers Stupe.

My dearest Ruby,

You certainly have a wonderful way with words. Even though I was not there I was laughing my head off as I read your entry. You guys really had a great time. Your vivid description of events at bowling gave me quite a good mental picture of the superb do. Too bad TKC did not win. Better luck next year. TQ dear.

Love always,

K Anne.

Hi K Anne,

Thank you for your kind words. We certainly had a great time. Cheers.

Hi anonymous,

Oh definitely we have every intention to post most photos. We are waiting for our photographer to ready the photos. These are just a few snaps I managed in between emcee-ing. Thanks for your wish and yes we hope to hold the challenge again.

Hi Sven,

K Akmar's hand? To me that seems like a wrist band...hmm...dunno, I'll call her tomorrow to find out. Thanks for dropping by and the cute concern.

Hi Stupe,

Ooh! Tersasul rupa nya. Glad you too had a good time. Nice to interact inter-alumni really. Cheers.

My dearest K Ruby,

Really wanted to be there but I was down with a bad fever and flu. Besides that, I am also busy shifting to our new office and by now the contractor must've been really bored of me that they seemed to be working extra fast, heheh!

-idris house 'xx-

p/s very pleased with the men's result, heheh!

K Ruby dear,

I totally agree with K Anne. You have such a wonderful gift with words. Made me feel as if I was there in person.

Ahh, finally Mr and Mrs Stupe up close and personal.
(since I missed his 1st action in Explorace so I didn't know his face la~)
They both make a very cute couple, don't you think so, K Ruby?
Can't wait to see stupe jr nanti.
(Why am I getting all excited ni?? LOL. Babies..,they always put a smile on my face.)

Don't worry about next year's cheering squad,sisters.
After all, the only thing that most teachers remember about our batch is:
"Oooo, batch yang bising tu ya??"(referring to 9600)
So, if I can't make it, the others would be honoured to be cheering for the OGA as that's what we do best. He he he.

Have a nice day everybody.

Hi Seen_er,

Yeah! I was kinda looking out for you, who knows you wanna be out of the shadows and get real!! He he ! Awwwww...so sorry you were not well. Must be the stress of moving perhaps. I always get all severely stressed up whenever I had to move. So cute, the contractors working fast...on that account..ha ha ha. But heyy if I know better they only work fast for some other reason..the only reason and we all know what it is. $$$$$$$$!!

Pleased with men's results. Jangan lah. Tak kesian us girls ke?? Thanks for dropping ny, lovely to hear from you.

Fizzy babeh,

Ooooh! Such lovely words from you dear. Thanks.

Ha ha ha...finally you don't need to guess anymore about Mr and Mrs Stupe. Yes, they make such a lovely couple indeed. Duh, Fizzy dah fikir Stupe Jr...ha ha ha. Yeah babies are gorgeous, brings great cheer to our lives. Yeah! Batch yang bissssing yang we need the most! I had a great time at bowling. Networking was fabulous with our friends from the other alumni. Thanks for dropping by babe.
